So Caltrain is cutting the middle of the day service (see press release: http://www.caltrain.com/news_2009_07_02_board_approves_changes.html). Which is reasonable, given that it's pretty empty, but also the wrong direction from the ridership growth standpoint.
Fundamentally, we can lay the blame for this on municipalities allowing office parks -- if the jobs were by the train line, the train would have all-day demand.
